The children worked in ‘Triads’ to identify, and annotate, the key features of an autobiographical text and a biographical one. Then they compared the two texts, discussing the similarities and differences.
Similarities: They are factual. They both have an introduction and closing paragraph. They are written in chronological order and include dates and times of events. They include information about them, their family and friends.
Differences: A biography is about somebody else’s life, written in the third person and based on facts researched by the author, whereas an autobiography is written by that person so it’s written in the first person, and is full of thoughts and emotions too.
