Over the past few weeks Nursery and Reception classes have been making Easter Bonnets with the help of our parents – all in preparation for our Easter Bonnet Parade which took place at Houndsfield on March 27th.
Easter Bonnets are part of an old tradition of wearing any new or fancy hat at Easter time. It represents the tail-end of a tradition of wearing new clothes at Easter time and ensuring ‘good luck’ for the year ahead. In the depths of the ‘Great Depression’ a new hat at Easter, or a refurbished old one was a simple luxury.
We’ve definitely ensured that all our children and parents have plenty of good luck for the year ahead!!
Have a Wonderful Easter Break
