On Wednesday 24th May 2017, Houndsfield took part in UNICEF’s Day for Change. Our ‘change’ was to swap roles; teachers as pupils and vice versa. This year, the focus was on ‘the power of nutrition’ and how to keep our bodies healthy.
We started the day with a whole school breakfast and continued throughout the day to learn about nutrition. In addition, over lunchtime we had a penalty shootout for any spare change.
During the afternoon, we looked further into article 24 of the UNCRC (children should have good enough nourishment from their food). To our dismay, we discovered that even though it is a right, not all children are able to access this right.
Overall the day was a success; Houndsfield raised £430!
In addition to this, we were recognised by UNICEF of our support via Twitter. Well done!
