It was Science Week last week and we had a great time in Rowling class participating in the different activities Miss Crawley had suggested for us.
We began the week looking at our Phase 4 scientist – Mae Jemison. Do you know who she is? We didn’t when we started but we do now! Take a look at our posters in the gallery to find out more!
We also thought about and responded to the Science Week ‘statement of the day’. Miss Tofts really enjoyed looking at all our answers. Take a look at some of our ideas in the gallery below.
As our famous scientist (I won’t give too much away) was linked to rockets. We conducted an experiment to find out the best type of paper aeroplane you could make. Which would travel the furthest? Which was the easiest to make? Which would withstand the numerous throws we did to ensure our test was fair? We had great fun outside throwing our aeroplanes and recording where they landed by drawing on the playground! We then measured the distance from our start line to the further point to find out how far our planes traveled.
