Dear Parents, carers and family friends,
At Houndsfield School, we believe that learning happens everywhere; at home, in the shop, on the bus, on holiday and even in the park…the list is endless. We know that learning doesn’t stop at the end of the school day and we therefore encourage home learning. As well as this, it is vitally important that parents take an active role in their children’s learning.
We expect that parents listen to their children read for at least 20 minutes every evening and that they sign their reading record every week. Some parents might even like to make a comment about how their child has read on that particular occasion.
Homework is set every week. The homework is given on a Friday and should be returned to school to be marked by the teacher on a Wednesday. Children who do not return their homework will be spoken to by a teacher and may miss a break or some of their lunchtime. Many teachers award rights points to children who bring their homework in every week!
If you would like some ideas on how to best support your child’s learning, please speak to the class teacher or phase leader who would be happy to help!
